On this blog we will be exploring one feature of iOS 7 at a time, and so every few days I’ll toss another here on the blog to look at more closely.
Just ONE at a time.
Slow and steady.
That’s how we “everyday folks” can cope with all this stuff. 🙂
Before iOS 7, if you wanted to search for something on your iPad or iPhone, you merely swiped the screen from left to right, and poof! a search screen.
This is one of the features that has been changed in iOS 7. Now, if you try the left-to-right swipe, you get …… nothing. So where is the search feature, now?
To find “search” on your iPhone or iPad in iOS 7:
Touch anywhere on any screen full of icons and pull down.
After you pull down, you will see the search screen and you can go about finding all the things you need to find. 🙂
Note: if you reach too high, and pull down from just above your screen, you will bring down your calendar, etc. (Subject of another post. 🙂 ) Remember: to bring up the search screen, just pull down by touching on the screen, itself.
Thanks. I upgraded to iOS7 and had no idea where the search screen went
It took me a while to figure out how to access it. I kept bringing down the notifications. 😯
Hi i have the iphone 4s with OS 7 i have found it no longer gives an option to search on wikepedia or internet when it cant find something on phone is that a bug or am i missing something?
Oh, my, no no… of course you should be able to search. Tap on Safari, and go all the way to the top top top of the screen to find a search box that scours the internet for you. Is that what you mean? Or perhaps I misunderstood you?
Oh sorry ive taken so long to respond, what i mean is on IOS 6 on iPhone4s if you searched for say “Fish and Chips shop” from your home screen ( Spotlight Search) it would check your Iphone Contacts and Apps and then Safari and Wikipedia, my phone now with IOS 7 no longer gives you that option it just checks phone apps and contacts no longer safari and Wikepedia
Ah, yes…. now I understand. My husband’s phone still has iOS6, so I searched on his and then on mine with iOS 7 and you are absolutely right. The option to search Safari and Wikipedia is now missing. Such a simple thing…. I wonder why they didn’t leave it alone? Boo, Apple. Here is a link for you that is all about the Spotlight, now.
spotlight in iOS 7
But bottom line? Looks like the Safari and Wiki option is gone. 😦
New update coming ….. and the ability to search Wiki and Safari is being restored! You’ll have this back with the next update. 🙂
