Brief Intermission to Share a Bit of Blog Love

With much gratitude I am pleased to accept two blogging awards.

Nicole, at NMNPHX, has nominated me for her Spotlight Award. This is a rare honor, as the sole “giver” is Nicole, and she only highlights a few blogs a month. This month I am delighted to be among her chosen few. There are absolutely no requirements for this Award, but I couldn’t let this opportunity go by without calling attention to Nicole and her awesome blog. She is an aspiring writer, taking her readers on her journey as she grows in her craft.

I have also been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by The Retiring Sort. Her’s is a fun and informative blog about all aspects of retirement, from travel to financial planning to finding her misplaced glasses πŸ™‚ .

The rules for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award are:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you. Done!

2. Attach the Award to your site. Done!

3. Share seven random things about yourself: I can’t start the day without a cup of coffee; I am trying to simplify my life; My favorite supermarket ice cream is Edys Light Chocolate Chip; Cats make me sneeze; My “to do” lists are longer than the days to do the doing; I can’t eat raw tomatoes, but I can eat them cooked (which is a good thing, because…..); I consider Pizza a must-have food group.

4. Nominate 15 blogs. Let them know that they have been nominated and how to accept the award. Done!

Here are my nominees. This is a mix of new bloggers, new-to-me bloggers, and new subscribers that I am just getting to know. For me this is the hardest part of the Award process. I find it almost impossible to make choices. Our blogging community is so rich with entertaining, educational, interesting, artistic and informative blogs, I just don’t know how select only a few. I wish I could “pay it forward” to absolutely everyone. πŸ™‚

  1. Congratulations on the award – and well deserved, in my view; your blog is both inspiring and informative.
Going over to check out Nicole’s blog now, thanks for bringing it to our attention; I love discovering new blogs that might interest me!

  2. I think you richly deserve this award nomination! I love your blog and have learned so much from you. You ROCK, SC!! And I thank you in return for nominating me. I’m really pleased, and appreciate it very much. I will be checking out Nicole’s blog, and The Retiring Sort very soon. Plus every other blog you nominated, too. What a great way to start the day.

Keep up the good work. (I already know you will.)

  3. Okay, SC, O’ Great Explainer of All Things Techie and Confusing…question for ya. After reading Nicole’s page ( http://nmnphx.wordpress.com/nmnphx-spotlight-award/ ) about her Inspirational Blog award, I’m confused. Help! The list of nominees you show are the ones you sent HER to consider for her award, right? And we should wait until we see if we actually are given the award before proceeding? Sorry to sound like a dodo, but I want to be sure I’m not mistakenly doing something wrong. Regardless of what happens, I’m proud that YOU thought to include me among your nominees, though. That means a lot to me, for sure! And I’m happy that YOU have been recognized, because I personally think your blog is great!

    • Oh, dear, Marcia, I’m sorry if this was confusing!! My apologies! I was thanking Nicole for her award, and that ends right there.

You, my dear blogging friend, are nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. The requirements you see are for that award :). Just take the award and put it on your own blog, share 7 things about yourself and nominate 15 other blogs (and then let them know that you nominated them). The awards work almost like a chain letter, in that they spread out and bring new people to your blog and send people to others. Kind of a big mix-up-mash. πŸ™‚ Please feel free to ask any other questions if I’m still not clear.

  4. Oooooh. *whaps self in head* NOW I get it! Nicole’s award is something different, the NMNPHX Spotlight Award, right? DUH. I somehow read it as all part of the whole, as though you had been nominated for the same award by two different people. When I re-read it now, it makes perfect sense.

Blame my confusion on incipient senility! I’m OOOOOOLLLLLLD, SC. It’s sad, really. Someone forgot to clue me in to the fact, and I just keep truckin’ along like I’m still a Sweet Young Thing. Or at least hip enough to handle blogging. Ha!

So let me start over. *ahem* Thank you SO much for the nomination, and I WILL get busy tonight and pass the nominations along to blogs I love. Just one final question: may I give the Very Inspiring Blog Award button a permanent home on my blog, or just show it in the thank you post where I list my 15 blogs, etc? I’d kind of like to keep it on the main page, myself.

    • OH, yes! yes! Display your Award proudly right on the Main Page. For sure!!! (and you can’t use age as an excuse. There’s a good chance I’m older than you… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ )

  5. thank you so much!! and congrats on your awards too. I too find the nominating other blogs difficult. and now I have two (or is it three now? hmmm, I’ve lost track!) awards waiting in the wings. I appreciate it greatly!

      • tobyo says:

he he, thanks! and to make matters worse? I am going to have to redo my blog due to linking most of my photos with Webshots, which is being discontinued. pooey. I spose I could spend the time and redo all my posts? ah….so that’s why I haven’t posted much lately. wah!! but thanks!

        • What? Webshots is being discontinued? Their photo service, or the whole thing? My favorite screensavers, including the ones I’ve made myself, run through webshots. I’ve been collecting their images for ten years, probably. Say it ain’t so!!!!!

          • tobyo says:

sorry to be the bearer of bad news Marcia but as far as I can figure out, as of 12/1 all the photos that you’ve linked will be gone. I sent the new site (smile something or other) a message to clarify but they did not answer my question! to test, you could start a post, go to Webshots and try to link a photo. It redirects you to the new site, which won’t be free either. big bummer I am thinking!!

            • I just read on there that your own albums, etc, will transfer over to the new screensaver program. I had very few actual photos on webshots. Most of mine were on Photobucket. I will make sure I have copies of everything on there, though, just to be sure they are saved. My videos are on photobucket, too. I actually think I probably have 95% of my pictures on my harddrive as well as webshots, but I’m going to double check. The main thing I use them for is my own “desktop” and screensavers. And I’ve never linked photos from there, so maybe I won’t have the same problem you do. All of my photos are uploaded to my blog directly from my computer.

Don’t you hate it when something you’ve been using a long time just up and goes away? Or worse yet, suddenly has “New and Improved written on it? (Advertising speak for “Ruined Beyond Your Wildest Fears.”) *sigh*

              • I’ve never used Webshots, but I’ve been in that boat before. I had a service which downloaded YouTube videos and I was like a kid in a candy shop. And then they stopped. I was so disappointed! You get used to doing something, and it is complicated to change! I hope the Webshot change won’t be too traumatic.

                • Well, for me, it won’t be too bad from what I’ve read. I’ve never linked to photos on Webshots and actually haven’t put any of my own on there for years. All I have to do is get the few I have on there saved to my hard drive, and there’s a link you click on that supposedly does that for you automatically. Everything I use from Webshots (the professional images, etc, and the screensaver program that you can use your own images in) transfers over to the Smile website. I have a paid subscription to Webshots so I can snag the best images, and that transfers over, too. So I shouldn’t be too bad off. But I’m sorry for Tobyo, because they are not going to offer the linking service any longer. That looks like it will be a real headache to fix. So sorry, Tobyo!

              • well there are others much worse off than me. I created a post and someone replied who had used webshots in his blog for 5 years!! I have been wanting to move to self-hosting so maybe this is the push I need? trying to look at the positives πŸ˜‰ (I’m answering you up here since I can’t reply to your note below) It will be okay, eventually.

                • Good for you. You may as well look for the positive. It is what it is, after all, and not a thing any of us can do about it, really. When you get it all done, I’ll be you will like it much better, however you go. Good luck!

  6. Mag (Chancy's Mumsy) says:

Congratulations on the awards. Love your blog and any awards you receive are well deserved. Thank you for thinking of my new blog. I will post and thank you properly later. Hugs Mag

I'd love to hear what you think!
